Today and next week I’ll be uploading two “gangster” stories. In this first adventure Mandrake has to deal with an underworld boss who wants to use Mandrake’s magic for his own benefit. To achieve this he kidnaps Narda and forces Mandrake to teach him a few magic tricks so he can rob a bank. Will Mandrake help him and go rogue while Narda stands at gun point some place else? Or will he refuse and risk Narda’s life? Download the strip and you’ll find out!

D#079 - The Enchantress

If I’m not mistaken this is the very first appearance of Aleena, Mandrake’s fellow student and sweet heart from his teen-age years at the College of Magic. After losing track of each other, she’s back, using her telepathic powers to lure Narda and attract Mandrake to her palace at Bald Mountain, redeeming a romantic pledge he made her thirteen years earlier.

This story is also significant as it gives us an indication of Mandrake’s age, something that is never mentioned in the series. His age is...you’ll have to read the story to find out!

D#127 - The Team

This is the very last Mandrake strip drawn by Phil Davis who sadly died at the early age of 58 even before The Team started syndication. The strip was supposedly completed by his widow, Martha Davis, before Fred Fredericks oficially assumed the reins as regular Mandrake artist.
